Our Lunch and Learns launching for the new year!
Every once a month on Tuesday we gather for a light lunch
and an informational lecture from various experts around the community. Previous Lunch and Learns have spanned a wide variety of topics including Fire Safety and Prevention in the Home, Breast Cancer Awareness, Human Trafficking, Preventing Diabetes, Grief Support & the Grief Process.
We are happy to welcome members of the community surrounding us, and always find our speakers engaging and our discussions and fellowship enriching for all.
The dates and topics for the next couple months Lunch and Learns are as follows:
with Oakland County Emergency Management Division.
Topic: “Preparing your Families and Homes for Disasters, from Tornadoes
to Terrorists.”
Tuesday, Feb 14th – Ara Hachigian, Chief Program Administration
Children. Certified Trauma Practitioner & Trainer.
Topic: In “Trauma Informed Topic: Resilient Care” we will learn how to
view challenging behaviors through the lens of trauma. Understanding how
trauma impacts the brain development and function of children allows us to
more easily parent, work with and educate children who have been impacted
by trauma and the post-traumatic stress response.
Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. with the program following shortly after. We are typically done by 1:00 p.m. We hope you can join us for one or all of these events. If you plan to attend, please let us know so that we can be sure we have enough food available. We can be reached at 248-357-1848 or you can email the office at emmanuelsfld@yahoo.com. Donations of non-perishable food for the church's food pantry are appreciated but not required.
